Combined BS-MD Admissions Counseling
Advising for direct BS/MD, BA/MD and BS/DO Admissions
Direct med programs allow students to go from earning a BS or BA degree as an undergraduate directly to medical school to earn a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. Gaining admission to these programs is extremely competitive, even for students with a high GPA, test scores, and strong extracurriculars. Some of the direct med programs accept less than 10 students. Both bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) and the medical degree (MD or DO) together can be completed in 6, 7 or 8 years, depending upon the program.
Starting early, and working with one of our BS/MD counselors to create a clear strategy, will help position your student to have a strong profile to help them get noticed by admissions committees.
Our experienced counselors have successfully helped over 90% of qualified students get accepted to at least one BS/MD or other direct med program.

How we work with BS/MD applicants
Essay Support
Whether your essays need two drafts or 10 or more drafts, we will work with you until they truly reflect your interests and experience, and are ready for submission. Our counselors do not restrict the number of hours that they work with students, so they’ll keep working with you until all your essays are completed.
Job Shadowing and Internships
Successful BS/MD applicants need to demonstrate a sincere interest and commitment to medicine. We’ll advise you on research, job shadowing, and internship opportunities, help you think through how to position yourself and work with you on a cover letter to help you be competitive in the application process.
Interview Prep
The BS/MD interview can be either a one-on-one interview or an MMI interview, in which you interview with several people. Our counselors will help you learn how to best answer questions about yourself, your activities, your interest in science, and how to best respond to questions about ethics and healthcare.
